Why Take Tests We Don’t Know Answers To?
by Charlie Matusek ’21
In late April and all of May, students all over Montgomery County are taking PARCC and MISA tests. The PARCC English and Math test is a standardized test that monitors students’ progress, and the MISA does the same for science. In order to graduate, students now have to pass these tests. These tests have little material on it that students have learned during the school year. Students have almost no resources to study for the PARCC and MISA tests. Although there are practice tests, students often don’t know that as an option or don’t know how to access therm. In order to graduate, students now have to pass these tests.
PARCC and MISA tests have very little material that the student has learned in the class. The state needs to take away these standardized tests, and instead require school districts like MCPS to give semester exams. For example, the MISA contains a part of physics which students are not required to take.
