A new software platform known as Synergy will replace OASIS, Gradebook, Parent Portal, and myMCPS Student beginning July 6. 2020. Synergy is promoted among K-12 students as giving students, parents, teachers, and administrators access to tools they need in one place. Along with being able to access emergency card information, the parent and student portals, and athletic registration, Synergy offers a much more efficient way for students to monitor grades and assignments. According to MCPS, Synergy users access all of their data through one login, with role based views displaying the right information to every user.
Through Synergy, parents can use the new information system to monitor their child’s grades and receive messages from teachers that have been automatically translated for them by the system. Parents can pay school fees anytime and easily update details such as emergency contact information. Students and parents can view teacher recommendations, submit course requests, and have course requests automatically verified. Students can track their graduation requirements and have direct access to their transcripts. The intention of Synergy is to connect the parent portal, student portal, and gradebook into one big system, to promote collaboration and provide learning management tools that save time for teachers and enables students to succeed.
