Boys’ Lacrosse Start With Big Win
By Lauren Cosca ’15
Boys’ lacrosse won their first game against Blake on March 22, with a final score of 16-3. “It was a good start win to start the season and get some game experience for the team. We look forward to carrying the momentum into the rest of the season,” said senior William Wykoff. They also won against Watkins Mill on March 24, with a final score of 18-4.
The first real test comes on Friday April 4, at 7 p.m. at Sherwood, when the boys plays one of their top rivals, Walter Johnson. The warriors lost by one goal in the 2011 playoffs against WJ, and won in double overtime in the 2012 playoffs.
“WJ is usually a very physical, well—coached team with excellent defense and a good passing game on offense. I expect a very tough game as always and we will work hard to prepare,” said Coach Chip Steel. The boys hope to continue their winnings and get back at a longtime rival this Friday.
