Golf Team Finds itself in State Finals

On October 30 sophomore Matt Ervin teed off at University of Maryland, College Park Golf Course after qualifying for the MPSSAA State Golf Championships. The golf team had set a first for its program, ending the season with a team appearance in the state finals. The district team was led by sophomore Michael Metro who shot a 79. The team is very young, freshman John Ervin 81, sophomores Matt Ervin and Brett Levenstein who shot 83 and 87 respectively and junior Parker Philips who shot an 85. The four man state team will consists of Metro, John and Matt Ervin, and Philips. The first round of states will be on Monday, October 28.
“The team has gotten more confident as the season has grown on,” said Coach Brent Davis. “I’ve seen much improvement in their attitude on the golf course and overall maturity on the golf course. It’s been fun to watch.”
