Warriors Await Playoff Seeding, Look to Avenge 2012 Defeat
by Michael Natelli ’14
As the Warriors await their seeding for the playoffs, they boast a strong case for a high seed, going 12-3-1 in the regular season. The Warriors won the Montgomery County 4A West title after sweeping the division with a perfect 6-0. Casey Paholski dominated batters on the mound this year, and Matt Chanin led the bats down the stretch, finishing the season with four home runs and 23 RBIs.
The Warriors are in good position to make a playoff run, as Chanin is finally returning to the mound after recovering from a sprained shoulder. Chanin made his first pitching appearance of the season in Monday’s regular season finale against Gaithersburg, and recorded five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. “I felt good out there,” Chanin said. “I think I struggled some with my first-pitch strikes, and throwing strikes is one of my strengths, so I was probably a little anxious. But I was able to battle back.” With Chanin back and the team playing some good baseball, the Warriors just might be able to avenge their semi-finals defeat from last season.
The playoff bracket is set to be released this afternoon, and will be viewable on the Warrior Online once it is released.
