Indoor Track Prepares for Postseason

The Warriors laced up their spikes for one of the most anticipated meets of the season, the Montgomery Invitational. The meet featured teams from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Sophomore Lauren Woods proved to be one of the top sprinters in the area, finishing 19th in the 55m dash. Woods was the second Montgomery County finisher in the event. Woods also placed 21st in the 300m dash. Unfortunately for the Lady Warriors, freshman Amanda Hayes-Puttfarcken suffered a stress fracture in her foot and was unable to compete. However, this did not stop the team from performing their best. Junior Grace McDonald finished 25th in the 800m, placing fifth for Montgomery County athletes. Hayes-Puttfarcken should return for the championship meets.
Senior Gerard Bowes stepped up for the boys’ squad, placing 14th in a field of 42 for the triple jump. Senior Vik Siberry contributed to the team, finishing 30th in the 1600m. “Our girls’ team is shaping up to be one of the top teams in the county. We gained a lot of momentum from this meet and we hope to carry it into the county championship coming up,” said McDonald.
