‘The Adventures of Tintin’ Enjoyable to All

by Paul Szewczyk ’12

After a disappointment with 2011’s selection of animated films (I’m talking to “Cars 2”) it was nice to end the year with the enjoyable animated film, “The Adventure of Tintin”.

“Tintin” tells the story of a journalist named Tintin (voiced by Jamie Bell) and his dog Snowy as they search for clues that will lead them to a very valuable treasure while they are being hunted by Ivan Sakharine (voiced by Daniel Craig) and his cronies. The film’s storyline is very engaging and will leave the audience on their feet while they follow the adventures travel across Europe and Africa looking for the treasure.

The voice acting is very pleasing as well; Bell, not being a very well known actor, was a surprising pick for Tintin, but it was the right choice. Bell’s young, eager voice is the perfect choice for Tintin because Bell’s tone truly displays Tintin’s adventurous attitude. Besides the acting in the film, the movie is visually appealing as well.

The CGI in this film is breathtaking; the film looked like it could have actually been filmed by real actors. The scenery of Africa looked real, the rain drizzling on Tintin’s face looked real, the hair on Snowy looked so soft and fuzzy. It was truly a CGI film that memorized me.

Overall, this is a film that anyone of any age will enjoy. The only true problem I had with the film was the 3-D label that came with it. The 3-D effects were barely used in the film. The movie only pops out twice or thrice throughout the whole film.
