Varsity Wrestling Prepares For Counties
by Brendan Cudd ’14
The Warriors wrestling team recently finished off the season with a 6-8 record. The last two matches they had were against Wheaton and Paint Branch. They defeated Wheaton 55-21, but unfortunately ended the season on a bad note losing to Paint Branch 39-33. JV
JV Counties were much kinder to the Warriors, and they had a first place, second place and third place finisher in sophomores Billy Macheras, Michael Pittas and Charlie Siarka.
Looking ahead to Varsity Counties, junior Captain Chris Minor, senior Captain Adrian Arevalo and junior Michael Macheras and all projected to go far with a shit at making the tournament finals. Junior Shawn Suser has already beaten the number one, two, and three seeds for the tournament but is not projected to qualify.
“We started out very young,” said coach Pete Siarkas. “With a lot of new wrestlers slowly we are getting better every day, the teams that we are beating are like us and we are competing with the teams that have experience.”
