Netflix is Changing … and Not for the Better

Throughout the past year, I have noticed many t.v shows and movies removed from Netflix and placed on alternative streaming services. It is no coincidence that the streaming company or parent company corresponds with the program. One of the most noticeable changes is “Friends” is no longer available on Netflix. “Friends” is a widely known and beloved t.v show and its removal from Netflix caused a lot of uproar and frustration. It seems as though every channel is making a separate streaming service, diluting what remains available on Netflix. Some of the most notable recent streaming services are, DisneyPlus, HBO Max and Apple TV+. With each new streaming service, we are asked to spend more and more money just to watch our favorite t.v show or movie and it is very frustrating.
It is apparent that Netflix is going down hill and I’m not sure if there will be any change. Many t.v shows and movies are being replaced with Netflix originals such as the controversial “13 Reasons Why” and recent frontrunner, “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness,” a true crime documentary. These originals are usually hit or miss, and are taking over Netflix’s front pages. I think that one main streaming service with an abundance of movies and t.v shows would suffice. This way people are paying one fee instead of two or three for multiple services. Netflix needs to step it up, or I fear that their business may be headed toward trouble.
