Boys Soccer Kicks Season off with a Win

On September 17, the varsity boys’ soccer team got its biggest win of the season so far when they beat Magruder 2-0. Senior Dylan Panzer and junior Nelson Pinto scored the goals against Magruder, who was ranked number four at the time in the metropolitan D.C. area.
“It was a very aggressive game and it got chippy toward the end, but we held our own,” said junior Shervin Kashani. “Coming out victorious was huge for our season, but we need to stay focused.”
The boys’ varsity soccer team played Damascus, a talented team lead by one of the best players in the county, on September 9. The Warriors contained the treat, pitched a shutout and prevailed on goals by juniors Alan Kristall and Chris Homon. Senior Ethan Carey was a dominant force in the central midfield, while both seniors Christian Demoya and Corbin Brailsford led the defense. With great team defense in front of him, goalkeeper Tarun Malik registered a shutout in his first varsity start. The Warriors faced the excellent BCC squad on Wednesday September 10 and won 2-0.
“The season is going well. We had a huge game at home and won. We are undefeated so far and we just beat the fourth team in the county,” said senior captain Ethan Carey. “We need to work on outlet communication and transition going forward.”
