Sherwood Golf Scores at States

The Sherwood Golf team finished 2025 with a 12-5-1 record, and the third best scoring average in the county. The Warriors sent six golfers to the state championship at University of Maryland. Notably, senior Evan Bonnett finished 4th and freshman Palmer Freed tied for fifth, scoring an 80 in round one before following it up with a 73 the next round. Bonnett shot a 79 in the first round and a 73 in the second round.

Freed broke out as a bright spot for the team and showed at states his ability to build momentum. “I got more confident with the matches and the way things were, which helped me be more confident moving forward,” Freed said. “I made a bad mistake that led to a few more coming down the line on the first day, but I played good all day the first day, so I knew I was capable of playing good for day two, and I did.”

Sherwood golf had a young roster this season with five of the six golfers they sent to states being underclassmen. Freed added that the team has a bright future and expects big things in the next seasons to come.
