North Point Presents Challenge for The Warriors

This week, the varsity football team hosts the reigning 3A/4A champions, the North Point Eagles. North Point presents a challenge to the Warriors, reportedly being one of the most talented teams in the state. However, North Point’s season has been marred by controversy. They were forced to forfeit seven games after a player was found to be attending the school without proper residency documentation. They started the season 8-0 before the news surfaced and the forfeits were announced.

The Eagles have easily advanced through the first two rounds of the playoffs with two multiple-score wins. On Friday, the Eagles will make the 53-mile trip to Sherwood from Charles County, in what promises to be one of the best games not only of the week but of the football postseason in Maryland.

“This team hasn’t lost a game besides the forfeits; they know how to win even when they’re in tough situations,” said junior quarterback Matthew Larsen. The Warriors defeated Kennedy last round 49-6 and aim to reach the state semifinals with a win on Friday. Larsen added that the winner of the game will come down to who can be more physical and which team can limit turnovers. Sherwood football fans are in for a good one on this Friday night.
