Girls Soccer Kicks Off Season with 3-1 Start

Sherwood started out their season against a tough opponent, Richard Montgomery, playing them at home on September 9. In a close match, they ended up falling short, with a final score of 2-1. It was a competitive game from both sides, with the lone Sherwood goal scored by freshman defensive midfield Ava Scott.
The Warriors bounced a few days later with a statement win against Clarksburg on September 11, beating them with a final score of 4-2. Three of the four goals were scored by junior striker Emma Link, resulting in a hat trick. Clarksburg had a couple good players but the whole Warrior team was able to step up and work together, securing their first win of the season.
Away once again, the Warriors pummeled Springbrook in tough conditions. Despite the rain and cold, the Warriors won 9-0 against the Blue Devils. The goals were spread out amongst the team, showing strong potential for the rest of the season. Freshman Gabby Doldan scored three out of the nine goals.
Coming back after a strong win, the Warriors hosted Paint Branch at home on September 18, easily cruising to a 6-0 win. This game showed lots of potential with the goals spread out between many players.
After a tough first game, the Warriors are blowing past their opponents, showing amazing potential for the rest of the season and heading into the playoffs. Looking ahead, the Warriors will play Magruder on September 25 and Gaithersburg on September 27, hoping to stretch their winning streak to 5 games.
