Today’s news is filled with bad news after bad news.In the midst of a pandemic it can feel like the end of the world. All of the information can be overwhelming and incite panic among people, but everyone just needs to remember that there is still good out there. John Krasinski, who played the character “Jim” in arguably one of the most popular sitcoms to date, “The Office” has made it his goal during quarantine to help people be reminded of the good news.

In just a month, Krasinkski’s youtube channel, “Some Good News” has 2.21 million subscribers, 11 videos, and a total of 48,718,000 combined views. His very first episode typifies why the videos are so effectively heartwarming. In the episode, Krasinski shows videos of the human race at its best. The clips include an old man singing to his wife from outside her nursing home because visitors are not allowed in; people leaving gifts out in thanks to all of the delivery workers; and a grandfather meeting his grandson for the first time after his birth through the window.

It is essential in these times to keep busy and sane, because all of these long hours of quarantine can be lonely. Krasinski knows this and tries to combat boredom by keeping people entertained. He has video-chatted with many different people in his videos, including in his most recent video, Guy Fieri. In this video, he interviews people to learn about their families recipes and surprises them with famous chefs who made the people’s personal recipe to try them. This was a very sweet way to connect people together and show everyone that we are all in the same boat. All of these help show people of the light in these dark times and remind them that there are still good people out there.
