Treyarch’s “Black Ops 4” Delivers Thrills

by Justin Risher ’21

Treyarch recently released “Black Ops 4,” its newest addition in the Call of Duty Black Ops series. The first-person shooter game offers the classic multiplayer and zombies modes. The player can match up with their friends and compete against other teams in any of the gamemodes. For example, in one of the more popular modes, “Domination,” players must secure flags and rack up points while defending theirs from any players who want to secure them as well.

Treyarch also introduced the new aspect of Call of Duty, Blackout mode, in which every man is for himself. It begins with players jumping out of airplanes to any location on the map. Players must scavenge for guns, supplies, and medical tools. While Blackout mode is not my favorite mode in Call of Duty, some gamers are quite fond of it. The game itself looks beautiful with graphics and map design perfect for the game. During the first few weeks of the games release, I found it hard to stop playing. This game was like a breath of fresh air compared to the previous Call of Duty games in which fans were sick of the futuristic feel and needed this old- fashioned boots-on-the-ground play style.

The standard edition of “Black Ops 4” is $58.99 on Amazon but there also is the bonus edition that is double the price of the standard version. A major portion of the Call of Duty community are the zombies players. This mode has characters fighting for their lives against the undead. The goal of the mode is to survive as many waves of zombies as possible and the rounds get harder as the game progresses. Personally, this is my second favorite out of the four. I was young when the original “Black Ops” was released and never got the chance to play it very much. The second edition is arguably the best Call of Duty game of all time. It’s personally my favorite and it really set Call of Duty apart from the pack of other first-person shooter games.

I would recommend “Black Ops 4” to any fans of Call of Duty or first-person shooter games. The enjoyment of this game will drastically increase if you have friends to play with and talk to while playing the game. So take that in to account and think about if your friends already have this game or are interested as well. “Black Ops 4” is an awesome game and Treyarch really had the fans in mind when making it. It allows players to reignite their interest in Call of Duty, while also exploring all the possibilities the game has to offer.
