Candidates Eric Guerci and Rachit Agarwal have been nominated to run as the final two candidates in the upcoming general election for the thirty-eighth SMOB of Montgomery County.

Guerci, a sophomore from BCC and policy advisor to former SMOB Justin Kim, led the pack on Wednesday, amidst a crowded competition of six candidates. Guerci, who had visible support, easily won the votes of student representatives in the county-wide nominating convention, though faced strong opposition from the runner-up candidate: Rachit Agarwal, a junior from Richard Montgomery and former chief of technology to current Student Member of the Board Dahlia Huh.

The SMOB is an elected public official who serves on the Board of Education. Currently, the SMOB is given partial voting rights within sessions of the board of education, and is expected to act as a direct representative of students throughout the county.
