Depth Will Not be a Problem for Tennis

Even with the poor weather conditions in recent weeks, the Boys’ tennis team is eager to show off their strengths this season. The new additions of six freshman, as well as the return of all four singles players from last year, should play an important role for the team.

“Our biggest strength this year is our depth. Everybody on the team is pretty close in skill,” said Junior Ryan Tom, one of the four returning singles players.

With everyone being at a relatively similar skill level, the team should benefit from being able to rely on numerous players to play strong matches. Singles player Matt Bent provided a spark for the team as a freshman and now looks to do even more to help the team succeed as a sophomore.

Despite recent inclement weather that caused some of the tryout days to be cancelled, the team has been working hard in preparation for their first match of the year against Wootton on March 23. Their first match was originally scheduled against Whitman for this past Friday, but some untimely snow forced it to be rescheduled later into the season.
