Two members of the wrestling team, senior Andrew Frumkin and junior Charlie Siarkas, both made it to county finals on Tuesday February 24. The boys both played huge roles on the team throughout the entire season and led the team in pins, wins, and team points—Frumkin with 16 pins, 27 wins, and 123 team points and Siarkas with 18 pins, 22 wins and 84 team points. In finals, Siarkas lost to a wrestler from Poolesville 11-4. However, Frumkin dominated his Damascus opponent in winning score of 8-0. In addition to Frumkin and Siarkas, senior Sean Levy will be attending regionals this Friday, February 27.

Finishing off the regular season, the team beat Blake 45-22 in a match on January 22. Following that, on January 24, the Warriors had a tri-meet at Magruder and lost to both Magruder, 48-24 and Paint Branch, 44-36. The following Saturday the boys were defeated again by Springbrook 46-21and Wootton, 41-24 on February 2. The Warriors ended on a high note by finishing off their last regular season match 42-27 against Gaithersburg on February 7. Overall, the boys had only 4 wins throughout the season, with 10 losses. However, individually the team did not do too badly.

“Compared to last year, we did much better. But the team has a ton of potential with incoming freshman and returning wrestlers,” said Frumkin. “We have a more family-like feel this year, and I’m hoping that we are able to keep that feel next year when I’m gone.”
