Warriors Look to Cap off a Strong Season

The girls’ basketball team finished the regular season with a record of 15-7, their best record in recent years, under new coach Tim Hobbs. The Warriors’ clinched No. 3 seed in their section, with an accompanying first-round bye despite finishing the season with a 43-35 loss to Rockville (11-9) on the Rams’ senior night.

The girls will travel tonight to Howard (22-4). The No. 2 Lions and tied for second place in their 12 team division. Howard lost two games at home, and the Warriors’ will be looking to make it three.

If the Warriors beat Howard, they will advance to the sectional final game to most likely play Paint Branch (21-1) who are the favorites for the 4A North Region. Sherwood has played the Panthers twice this year, losing both by 20+ points.

The leaders of this year’s team were senior captain Nicole Stockinger (11 points per game), junior Delaney McMenamin (8.4 points per game) and sophomore Good Counsel transfer Amanda Allen (8.3 points per game).
