Girls Tennis Shows Promise

By Noah Rosendorf ’17

The girls’ tennis squad looks like it may have a very good season this fall. Their singles top players junior Lea Owens, senior Kaitlyn Heo and junior Molly Halprin hope to lead the team to many victories this fall, along with their top doubles players: juniors Michelle Goldberg and Abby Palmer, and sophomores Sarah Feng and Eva Minahan.

The Warriors started off this season with two great wins and two hard-fought losses. They had an exciting match against the Blake Bengals when they won seven courts to zero. The entire team performed exceptionally in their matches. The girls also had a great match against the Blair Blazers. The match ended in the Warriors winning six courts to one court, with the whole team playing outstanding throughout all of the matches.

However, the Warriors had a very tight match against the Richard Montgomery Rockets. Richard Montgomery won four sets to three, with the Warriors’ top three singles players, Owens, Heo and Halprin, winning their courts with absolutely no problem. The team also had a very difficult match against Wootton. The hard play throughout ultimately ended in defeat, although Owens, Heo and Halprin defeated their opponents in their sets.
