Baseball Hopes to Continue Winning Tradition

After finishing the 2013 regular season with a 13-4-1 record, the Warriors lost to Westminster in a close 5-4 game in the third round of the playoffs. Despite the loss of eight seniors from last year’s roster, the team should have a smooth transition.

All-Met senior Matt Chanin highlights the deep pitching rotation, being joined by seniors Bryan Reich and Daniel Ryczek. Senior fielders Brady Adam, Cameron Aud and Pat Dunn will be joined in the outfield with junior transfer Neven Sussman, who also starts at quarterback for the football team. Adam and Chanin, who held batting averages of .391 and .446 respectively last season, will highlight the batting rotation.

“I think defense will be the key. Pitching is our strong point and if we have guys that can make routine plays we will be very tough to beat,” said coach Sean Davis.

The schedule this season includes match-ups against Good Counsel, Whitman, Blake, Damascus and Quince Orchard; however, the strong reputation of Sherwood’s baseball program tends to make every game a “big game” for their opponent.

“At Sherwood we always have a target on our back so every game is big. This will be the most challenging schedule that we have played in the last few years,” said Davis.
