MCPS Confirms Extra Days to be Added to End of Year

MCPS has confirmed that it will add extra days to the end of the year to compensate for the nine snow-related closures. In an online memo sent to staff, MCPS stated that it will add five extra days to the school year, making the last day of school Thursday, June 19, rather than the originally scheduled Thursday, June 12.

Though MCPS has the ability to apply for a waiver from the state of Maryland to not make up days lost to closures, there are no indications that MCPS will ask for waiver, as school system did in 2010 when there were 11 days missed due to weather.
