This year’s two Student Member of the Board (SMOB) finalists are junior Calvin Yeh from Poolesville High School and junior Dahlia Huh from Clarksburg High School. On February 27, Clarksburg hosted the annual Nominating Convention in order to elect the final two candidates. Voting delegates from across the county attended the convention to hear the speeches of the candidates and a brief question and answer period.

With the finalists chosen, the next two months will serve as time for them to campaign across the county for the final, general election, where all students in the county may vote in their schools. The general election will be held on April 30 with a preceding ‘Meet the Candidates’ video released a few days before to allow students to get to know and understand the platforms of Yeh and Huh.
