Football Loses to Quince Orchard, Plays Blake Tonight

by Michael Natelli ’14

After a rough loss to Quince Orchard last week, the Warriors enter Week 8 with a 5-2 record and a chance to clinch a winning season in front of a home crowd on Friday night.
The Warriors will take on the Blake Bengals in their regular season home finale this Friday, in a game that will have a significant impact on both their playoff chances and playoff seeding. While the Warriors figure put together a stylish win, a loss would put them at 5-3 with two games to go, one of which would be against the 6-1 Paint Branch Panthers. While a loss against the Panthers is not a forgone conclusion, relying on a win would put the Warriors in a tough spot.
The Blake Bengals enter the game with a 1-5 record, their lone victory coming in a 20-14 win over the Magruder Colonels (whom the Warriors beat 62-0 two weeks ago). The key for the Warriors will be to run the ball, control the clock, end the game as quickly as possible and avoid injury before their tough task next week.
What to Watch For:
Junior Tyler Jones will be starting in place of injured safety Chris Minor. The Bengals have failed to score points in six of their seven games to this point, so if that trend continues tonight, Jones will likely be joined by several other backups in the second half.
