Class of 2014 Class Officers Make Strides

In many cases, the spirit of a class, or lack thereof, goes hand in hand with how organized the class officers of that class are and how well they communicate with their peers. With a new combination of representatives, the Class of 2014 class officers have already displayed a large improvement in these two areas.

“We want to unite the Senior Class, and we found that the best way to communicate with everyone was through twitter,” said Treasurer Nicole Walsh.

Through their twitter, the Class of 2014 class officers have informed students of themes for football games and spirit days as well as other vital announcements. Most recently, the officers organized a dayglow theme for Friday’s football game against Blake.

The officers also used twitter to organize homecoming hall meetings and get classmates to participate. With good communication and organization by their leaders, the seniors were able to win the homecoming halls after three consecutive last place finishes.

“We worked really hard and planned a lot to be able to break the three year losing streak,” remarked Walsh.

The homecoming halls victory has somewhat changed the perception of the Senior Class and given a reason to believe that spirit still exists in the Class of 2014.

Now, with homecoming halls behind them, the Class of 2014 class officers have shifted their focus to helping put together prom and graduation. At Wednesday’s senior breakfast, which they organized, the class officers announced that they landed Michael Williamson as the guest speaker for graduation. Williamson is a photojournalist for the Washington Post and a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner. He is also the father of senior Sophia Williamson and sophomore Valerie Williamson.

Though it has already been an eventful first two months of school, Vice President Tobi King notes that they have much more in store. “Listen guys just buckle into the seat that is our senior year, because it’s going to be one heck of a ride,” said King.
