The Warrior has once again achieved a First-Class Rating, the second-highest rating possible from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA). The dedication and hard work of the staff of the 2012-2013 school year led to three Marks of Distinction in Leadership, Layout and Design, and Graphics. The Warrior was one mark away from obtaining the All-American rating, which is the highest honor.

NSPA praised the wide coverage of school-related issues – ranging from topics such as academics to cafeteria food to homecoming. These articles were well integrated with non-school related news, which was commended for its phenomenal job relating national issues to the student population. NSPA displayed particular interest for the Spotlight section, commenting on how diverse the topics were from issue to issue, giving the readers something to look forward to. In addition, The Warrior was credited with a tasteful and strategic layout and use of photos, graphics and art that helped to enhance the quality of the paper. Overall, NSPA applauded the variety of topics, coverage and consistency of the paper in its entirety.
