Co-ed Volleyball Wins County Championship

The co-ed volleyball team achieved its goal on Tuesday when the team defeated Damascus in the county championship in a match of 3-2. Last season, Sherwood was kicked out of the playoffs by Damascus in the semi-finals after finishing the regular season undefeated. Damascus again defeated Sherwood at the end of this season, resulting in their only loss. However, this time around it was different.

“We lost to them in the season in five games and played them in the semi with one of my best guys injured,” said Coach Pete Siarkas. “This year we played in the season and I had two starters out playing in a tournament in Puerto Rico.  I wanted to see want we can do at full strength.”

This was a huge revenge game for the Warriors, seven players returned from last season’s team; all of whom knew they could be unbeatable when playing at their best.

“It was an amazing feeling to finally win the championship, and it being against Damascus made it so much better,” said senior Jake Goldberg.
