With all the different smartphones and the many games and utilities on the market today, it can be hard to figure out which apps are useful and which are a waste of time. The Warrior surveyed Sherwood students and discovered some of the best smartphone apps:

•Brit+Co.: An app featuring tons of simple DIY projects, from fashion to cooking and everything in between. Most projects can be made from items found around the house or a quick trip to the craft store. The Brit+Co. staff also compiles lists of cool gadgets available for purchase. The app includes an option to “favorite” the best articles and share them via text, email and social networking.

•Wanelo Shopping: Wanelo (Want, Need, Love), is a shopping app that lets users make a profile and save to lists what they want to buy. The app also lets users follow their friends and see what their friends save, and the prices of most items are listed along with a link to where they can be purchased. Users can follow stores such as Forever 21 and Top Shop as well, and post their own purchases for others to save.

•Snapchat: Snapchat is a messaging app used for sharing photos and videos with friends for up to ten seconds before they disappear forever. Users can also draw on their pictures and add captions, allowing them to chat with friends via photos much faster than traditional MMS messaging.

•Fun Run: Similar to Mario Kart, Fun Run is a racing game where players make a profile and race against other random users or against their friends. Winning racers are awarded coins, allowing them to buy new avatars and avatar clothes.

•Cracked Reader Lite: An app version of the website “Cracked.com,” which compiles lists in article form of funny and interesting facts. The articles are divided into categories like “Movies & TV” and “Sports.”

•Chipotle Ordering: Everyone’s favorite fast-food Mexican restaurant now has an app that lets customers place an order ahead of time. Skip the lines next time by ordering Chipotle through the app and picking it up without the wait.
