After defeating BCC 1-0 in the regular season, the Lady Warriors’ soccer team will face their rival again this Saturday at 5 p.m. on Richard Montgomery’s field for the state semifinals.

Sherwood beat Baltimore Polytechnic Institute 8-0 last Friday, securing a spot in the regional championship. “We played well as a team and it showed,” commented junior Kristen Lauda.

On Monday, the girls won the 4A North Regional Championship by beating Catonsville 4-3. The game went into double overtime after a tie of 1-1, and then into penalty kicks. Senior Amanda Pustis shot first, followed by junior Claudia Gomez, then senior Hope Gouterman, and ending with junior Kelly Flamand.

Although the Lady Warriors had a successful 13-1 record throughout the season and into the playoffs, the team avoids becoming too confident by focusing on what lies ahead. “Because we have gone so far in our season, we are more grateful with every win,” Pustis said. “We try not to get overconfident because we know that anything can happen. We just try to enjoy the season and focus on the next game.”
