College Application Deadlines Extended

In light of the many students that were left without power and internet access as a result of Hurricane Sandy, many colleges have decided to push back their November 1 deadlines.

The University of Maryland has extended its priority deadline to November 9.  The University of Virginia and Duke University pushed their deadlines back to November 4.  Dartmouth, Columbia, Cornell, Yale, Stanford and Boston University extended their deadlines to November 5. The University of Pennsylvania gave applicants until November 6; Brown and Tufts Universities said they would accept applications until next November 7. Some schools, including Washington and Lee University, Princeton University, and Harvard University did not give a deadline, but instead requested that applicants include a brief explanation of their situation in their application.
