Swim and Dive

The swim and dive team has now competed in four meets against Poolesville, Quince Orchard, Richard Montgomery and Blake  The girls have won all of their meets and the boys won theirs against Blake.

“The goal of our girls team is to win the division two championship. Hopefully, this means that they will continue winning their duel meets and the division two championships.”said Coach Brendan Lees. “Our boys’ team is in a rebuilding phase and hopefully they can continue to be competitive and pull off some upsets,” stated Lees. In the meets he girls had wins by junior Kylie Sheapp, senior Rikki Sargent, junior Megan Conrad and sophomore Amy Hockman for swimming. For the boys, senior Dylan Young, junior Rahul Navale and sophmore Alex Witkin all had wins for the boys. In diving, junior Aaron Katz and sophomore Summer White had great finishes in the meter dive, both winning the event.

Wrestling

The Sherwood Wrestling team has a record of 4-8 with their final regular season meet coming up on February 4 against Magruder and Quince Orchard.  The Warriors suffered a tough loss against Blair and lost 46-24.  The following weekend the team had a tournament at Springbrook and came in 11th place with 83 points.  Then the team had a crushing loss against Wootton losing 58-15.  Then with a turn of luck the team beat Wheaton 65-18.  Then unfortunately Sherwood visited Blake and lost.  Then the luck wasn’t on Sherwood’s side when the faced another tough loss to Walter Johnson.  “Practice consists of hard work, drill work, live wrestling and conditioning which results in the team getting better every day.”-  Coach Pete Siarkas
