The swim and dive team has now competed in three meets. The girls have won all of their meets and the boys have yet to win a meet. Coach Brendan Lees stated “The goal of our girl’s team is to win the division two championships. Hopefully, this means that they will continue winning their duel meets and the division two championships. Our boy’s team is in a rebuilding phase and hopefully they can continue to be competitive and pull off some upsets.” Lees hopes that the girls will continue to excel in competition by using their key swimmers and divers. One of their key swimmers is junior Anna Kolanowski, who won the 500 yard freestyle in their meet against Richard Montgomery. On the girls dive team sophomore Summer White has continued to excel by winning the girls one meter dive.

The Sherwood wrestling team is having a solid season so far with a record of 3-5 and relies on its depth in meets. Top performers are senior captains Tommy Kytlle, Kevin Carey and Joe Roberts, and strong wrestlers who are among the top are Chris Minor and Michael Macheras.

The team opened up the season with a 70-6 win over Einstein.  In the first tri-meet the Warriors took on Paint Branch and Poolesville, resulting in a close win over Paint Branch 32-28, but a tough loss against Poolesville 43-30.  A week later the Warriors had another tri-meet where they faced Whitman and Churchill. Sherwood had a close loss against Whitman 39-36 and were dominated by Churchill 54-22. The team came back in a comeback win against Watkins Mill but then hosted Springbrook and got handed a very tough loss 57-10. In their first tournament of the season they placed 7th with 2 wins and 6 losses. The Warriors next match ended with a 46-24 loss against Blair.

“At the beginning of the season it was just separate things going on but over time the team has formed a brotherhood and a bond that can’t be broken.” Said Sophomore Sean Musgrove.
