Girl’s Volleyball

by Hope Gouterman ’13

The girl’s varsity volleyball team has held off their competition well. So far, they remain undefeated, obtaining a record of 11-0.

“Every game is big, if we don’t go in with that winning attitude with energy and cheering, then you can win. You just have to work your hardest every play,” said junior Alex Holston.

In order to keep the winning streak, the girls will have to pull out a win from an also undefeated, Richard Montgomery on October 24. Also, they will have to beat Damascus on October 28 as well as Whitman on November 1.

Girl’s Soccer

by Jessica Carrera ’13

On Monday, October 24, the varsity Girls’ soccer team played BCC, a challenging opponent that always produces an intense and close game. Though Sherwood was first to score (goal made by freshman Lauren Woods), they ended up losing the game 2 to 1 after double overtime. Their record is now 8-3 overall and 3-1 in their division.

“[Sherwood] played a good game and the result could have gone either way. [It was] a good tune up for the playoffs this early for both teams,” said John Vukovich, the coach of the girls’ soccer team.

The next game will be the start of the playoffs. They play Westminster at home at 3:00 pm.

Tommy Nakamura is a great leader and player and we wish him the best in his future golf endeavors. I look forward to next season and working with our returning players,” said coach Chad Beswick.
