The Sherwood Warriors (20-0) defeated the Wootton Patriots Monday after a rain-struck game. The Warriors made quick work of the Patriots in the first inning, where only one baserunner was allowed. Offensively, Sherwood started its work in the first, scoring 4 runs. In the top of the second inning, the rain struck. Umpires heard thunder and called for a delay. After two hours of no baseball, the game resumed and Sherwood started its half of the second inning how it started the first, scoring another run, making the score 5-0. Then in the fifth, the Warriors added two other runs, ultimately their last of the game giving them 7 on the day. Wootton however, did not go quietly. The Patriots plated all four of their runs in the seventh inning. Senior Will Bouey started on the mound for the Warriors and struck out 11 while cruising through 5 innings of work. Nathan Craft relieved Bouey in the sixth inning and surrendered all four Patriot runs, three of which coming on a bases-loaded double with one out in the seventh. The Warriors advance to the Regional Semis on Thursday at home against the Churchill Bulldogs.
