Abuse Glorified by Sex Appeal

The chart topping single “Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem, featuring Rihanna, has swept the country in a matter of weeks, yet it is no longer only the song which is taking breaths away. The music video, which premiered on MTV August 5, stars Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan living in an abusive relationship. Throughout the video, the couple repeatedly ends vicious fist fights with passionate kisses. Fox and her costars look so glamorous that the majority of couples wouldn’t mind being in their place. This says something. An abusive relationship is not sexy or desirable, but ugly and dark and lonely. It is not worth glorifying a life of pain in order to sell a couple thousand more songs.
