To Visit a Sherwood Show

By Alexi Paidas ’17

This year’s spring play is a rendition of “Visit to a Small Planet.” Show dates are April 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. and April 26 at 2 p.m. in the Ertzman Theatre.

“Visit to a Small Planet” centers around Kreton, an alien, played by senior Alex Hanson, who lands on Earth hoping to watch the Battle of Bull Run, a key battle in the Civil War, only to find his time machine/spaceship has accidently landed him in mid-twentieth century outside the home of Rodger, Reba and Ellen Spelding, played by senior Spencer Mathews, senior Jaqueline Mueck, and junior Lizzie Boscolo. Once Kreton learns that he has landed in 1958, not 1861, he decides to stay and do what every rational alien does once his time machine has accidently landed him in the midst of the wrong century; start a war of his own.

The play takes a look at human nature and relationships during the 1950s through the eyes of the alien Kreton. Other cast members include senior William Goniprow (Conrad Mayberry), Erik Mayerson (Aide), and senior Andrew Houston (Delton 4). As well as senior Will McDermot, junior Emily Gilburt and sophmore Hunter Mueck (TV Crew). Tech crew students—senior Marie Moeller, sophomore Shelby Cullen and sophomore Maggie Lin—are also vital components in the spring production (specifically in helping the cast memorize their lines and transition away from their scripts).
