Starting Off the Rigorous Season Right

The boys’ volleyball team played their opening game on March 20 at Poolesville and won in three sets, 25-20, 25-18 and 25-12. Poolesville played solid throughout the game; however, Sherwood’s success came down to focusing on their star player and trying to limit him and shut him down.

“The game started tight but as it went on, we loosened up and started playing competitively and with high energy,” said Coach Ben Sanger.

This season, the Warriors have a tough schedule playing some of the top opponents in the county. The big games are scattered through the spring, meaning the team must maintain a high level of play and continue to get better.

“I’m really excited for our team this year,” said senior Ryan Gallagher. “We have a lot of depth and were playing great and we’ve only just started.”
