The varsity golf team finished their regular season strong with the 2nd best scoring average in the county behind Churchill. The team finished 4thon October 7 in the District tournament, qualifying for States for the 3rd year in a row.

Coach Brent Davis explained that Churchill is their toughest competition after two losses against them this season. “We were able to play them extremely tough and lose to them by only one stroke. Our team took confidence away from this know that we can play to their level. I hope come districts and states we can do the same,” said Davis.

Senior captain Matt Ervin leads the team with strong performances, and currently is fifth in the county with a scoring average of 36.6. “We’re doing pretty well as a team. We just have to get the consistency there. If we play like we are capable of, we can beat Churchill,” said Ervin.

The Warriors have displayed powerful performances this season, and plan to succeed at States, beginning on Monday October 26 at the University of Maryland golf course. The team will be represented by sophomore Brad Riley and seniors Matt Ervin, Michael Metro and Brett Levenstein.
