Charlie and Sherwood Go to the Waterpark

Sherwood is filled with talented and impressive students. Recently some of these students have tapped these sources of talent and put together an impressive feat, an album called “Charlie Goes to the Water Park” made up of 12 different songs and featuring at least 15 individuals. The album is set to release on June 1.

“Almost all recording, editing and beat-making occurred in the studio of our very own Sherwood,” said junior and one of the album’s featured soloists Kyle Simms. “Most of the songs belong to the hip-hop genre.”

The producers of the album are all Sherwood alumni: Jack Dosik, Mario Adams and Jake Levy. Dosik came up with the name of the album and just as the name implies made sure that all those working on it never lost sight of the main goal; having fun and being creative. It took them the whole school year of 2014 to 2015 to create the album.

“We spent the first semester making each track and the second semester recording vocals,” said Dosik. “We made an agreement not to care too much because that would ruin the fun of the album.”

It all came together second semester in 7th period Music Perspectives class. The producers decided to use the beats that they made first semester, create an album, and turn it in to music teacher Bill Evans for their senior final project. Ultimately, many other students besides the ones in that class ended up on the album, including junior Justin Rose, junior Dorian Stubblefield, graduated Nikolas Krieger, graduated Tony Persaud and many more.

“Jack will be handing out hardcopy CDs at the Sherwood graduation for $5. The profit from the CDs will be going towards making a music video for either the songs ‘Waterslide D***’ or ‘Slip n Slide.’”

A second album is not in the near future for the Waterslide Boys. However, as long as Sherwood has a recording studio, its students will continue to make music.
