Boys Lacrosse Starts Early Preparing for Playoffs

The boys’ lacrosse team scheduled teams outside of Montgomery County at the start the season to prepare them for the higher level of competition in the playoffs. The boys and girls purposely scheduled teams out of the county because they are not playing Good Counsel this year. While the boys have played Good Counsel in previous pre-seasons, the Falcons were not on Warriors’ schedule this year and were replaced by Century, N. Harford and Atholton.

“We are trying to balance playing our in-county and divisional games with as many other competitive games as the schedule will allow,” said coach Chip Steel.  So far the boy’s record is 8 and 2 season. The first game was played against Century on March 23 at home, and the boys lost 12-7. Their second game was against N. Hartford and the boys won 8-7 in overtime on April 2. Since those two early games, the Warriors’ have gone undefeated until they played Damascus losing 11-4 and currently have 8-2 record.

There is a lot of tough competition coming up that the boys are preparing for. The hardest game in the regular season is Wootton on April 29 at home. They have won by at least four goals in their wins other than against Whitman, winning 6-5 on April 4. The next games that will be played are against Walter Johnson at home on April 25 and will be the boys’ hardest game in their regular season, with the following game against Wootton on April 29, at home.
