It is just the beginning of the season, but the girls’ soccer team is giving it their all with a 4-1 record. This year’s captains are seniors Lauren and Tiffany Woods, senior Sam Berger, and junior Danielle Rohrman. Michella Amaguana and Amanda Osbourne are the only freshmen on the varsity team.

The season kicked off against Damascus with the Warriors’ rememberable 6-2 win. Rohrman skillfully placed three goals into the back of the net with an assist for good measure.

Their second game was against rival BCC whom they lost to 2-0. BCC was able to score once during each half. As the Warriors’ offense worked to score, the strong defense showed their colors as everyone put pressure on the opposing team.

After the loss, the team came back with a 3-0 win against Seneca Valley. This home opener got goals by juniors Barbara Pizzarro, Chantel Simoes and Ariella Amaguana. Sherwood kept up the hard work by beating Magruder and Northwest 2-1. The team’s next big games are October 7 against Blake and October 17 against Blair.DSC_2585

“Our team has a lot of skill, from speed to ball work to finishing. The most positive about our team is that we aren’t just a team; we are a family on and off the field. Our team bonding is well,” said Tiffany Woods.

“There is always room for improvement! But some big things would be aggressiveness and playing the play to our own team…[although] the team has lost talented players each and every year, we have also gotten people that fit the spots just as well as the people that left or maybe even better,” added Woods.
