Warriors’ Indoor Track Setting High Expectations

by Noah Rosendorf ’17

The boys and girls’ indoor track team have the potential to be one of the strongest in the county. The Warriors had their first MCPS meet on December 6, and the boys finished in 8th place while the girls finished 19th of 25 teams. Seniors Paige Munshell and Kiana Robinson had stand-out performances, with Munshell finishing 7th in the 55 meter hurdles and Robinson placing 7th in the Long Jump. Junior Nakaya Stallworth helped the team to round out the scoring by placing 8th in the girls’ shot put.

For the boys, senior Renaldo Smith finished in 1st place in the Triple Jump. That performance gave the team a great start and set them up for success in the rest of the competition. Senior Rhiem Allen, senior Justin Turner, senior Brian Whaley and sophomore Ethan Tagliere scored for the team by placing 5th in the 4 x 800 Relay. Senior Anthony Jones, senior Cherif Dicko, senior Cole Leacock, and Whaley also placed 4th in the 4 x 400 Relay.

“We have to push each other to work and motivate everyone to get the most out of them. We have to improve our skill in each event every day at practice if we want to be one of the best teams in the county,” said Dicko.
