Ending Their Season with a Hit, Coed Volleyball Reviews Their Previous Season

by Katherine Sperduto

The coed volleyball team had a successful season with a total of nine wins and one loss to Gaithersburg, qualifying them to participate as the fourth seed in the county playoff tournament.

Although the Warriors were defeated by Churchill, in their first game by a score of 25-17, 19-25, 22-25, 25-21 and 13-15, the team has improved in many ways, their skills have improved, their transitions on the court are flowing more smoothly, and the team chemistry is through the roof.

“What carried us this far was our teamwork and our strong offense and defense. The key to our successful season was teamwork and drive. When we really wanted to win, we played well and very strongly,” said senior Alex Greenbaum.

The team was a cohesive group whose members supported each other consistently. If a teammate was struggling to understand a specific skill, the rest of the team would encourage that member and give tips on how to improve that skill.

The team’s loss against Churchill was caused by errors that could have been prevented with more practice and time spent on covering and consistency.

“I think our strong points were attacking and serving; we scored a lot when we did both. The last game could have been improved with more aggression, smarter plays, and more consistency,” added Greenbaum.
